RIGHT FIT ADVISORS / ILLINOIS

Go to market strategy
in Illinois.

More interest does not always mean a stronger opportunity. RFA helps businesses in Illinois connect customer problems, buying triggers and delivery realities with a go to market plan, so positioning, qualification and launch decisions support the same commercial objective. A service buyer needs to understand the problem, boundaries and information required to begin.

YOUR OBJECTIVE COMES FIRST

Explain where a diagnostic ends and implementation begins.
Build the commercial story around a reason to act.

Illinois DCEO identifies advanced manufacturing, food processing, life sciences, transportation and logistics, and quantum computing, AI and microelectronics as targeted sectors. If the engagement concerns an offer or operating plan supporting freight exceptions and customer-account visibility, use a shipment reference, appointment change and customer update to make the assumptions concrete. Interview dispatch, customer operations and account teams about the problem, current workaround and authority to choose another approach. How will the team connect related messages to one accountable exception? Validate the buying situation before treating technical capability or general interest as market demand.

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity: industry context ↗
01

Choose the customer and the buying situation

Describe the customer’s operating problem, the change that makes it urgent and the people involved in a purchase. Compare that picture with existing conversations and customer evidence. A useful ideal customer profile goes beyond company size and industry.

02

Explain the offer through the customer’s work

Show what the customer is trying to do, where the current process falls short and what changes with the offer. Distinguish the buyer’s business case from the user’s daily experience. Avoid messaging that lists capabilities without explaining when they are useful. Working example: Offer brief and discovery questions.

03

Give qualification and pipeline stages meaning

Agree the evidence required to move an opportunity forward, including the problem, stakeholders and next action. A booked demonstration and an agreed purchase process should not be treated as equivalent signals. Keep loss reasons and stalled decisions available for review. For freight exceptions and customer-account visibility, agree how dispatch, customer operations and account teams contribute where those functions are involved.

04

Connect launch activity with useful behavior

Define the first action that gives a customer value and what repeat use should look like. Plan sales, marketing and onboarding around that journey. Evaluate the commercial system using comparable segments and a documented baseline rather than treating activity as an outcome. Review check: Review qualified inquiries and proposal clarity.

THE RIGHT FIT APPROACH

From your objective
to a scoped engagement.

01

Review the evidence behind demand

Examine customer conversations, opportunities and delivery experience with the founder and commercial team. Identify buying triggers, weak assumptions and a focused market objective. Bring proposals with frequent changes after discovery.

02

Turn insight into the commercial system

Shape positioning, qualification, sales materials and launch priorities around the customer problem. Connect the offer with delivery capacity and an explicit path to a first useful result.

03

Use market feedback to refine the plan

Review stage movement, buying objections and customer behavior. Decide which assumptions need another test and which practices the team can adopt consistently.

PLANNING THE ENGAGEMENT

Questions about support in Illinois.

How should we present a complex service?

Start with the customer’s situation and decision. Explain the relevant deliverable, required input and next step before listing every capability the business can offer.

What if we have many demos but few decisions?

Examine the buying trigger, stakeholder involvement and next action behind each opportunity. Demonstration volume can hide weak qualification or an offer that does not address a sufficiently urgent problem.

How should a new market entry be assessed?

Review the target customers, buying process, delivery requirements and the resources needed to serve them. A geographic label alone does not establish demand or readiness.

Can RFA help the team implement the plan?

Scope the specific work required, such as customer research, positioning, qualification or a launch operating rhythm. Assign a decision owner and review points rather than leaving a strategy as an unowned document.
