01Product ownership beyond the roadmap
For a product manager or product operations hire, define who sets priorities and how customer evidence reaches engineering. Ask candidates to explain a decision they changed, the evidence behind it and how they brought design, sales or customer success into the discussion.
02Technical depth with delivery judgment
A staff engineer or engineering manager may need to balance features, reliability and technical debt. Ask what the candidate personally owned in comparable decisions. Have technical interviewers examine depth while other stakeholders assess how tradeoffs were explained and resolved.
03AI responsibilities with clear boundaries
Separate experimentation, data preparation, application integration and ongoing evaluation. Decide which responsibility belongs to the employee and which remains with existing specialists. Define production ownership, review partners and an escalation route before turning them into hiring requirements.
04Collaboration that fits the workplace
Spell out laboratory or device access, office attendance, collaboration hours and customer contact where relevant. Describe how product and engineering resolve disagreements. Candidates need to understand the working arrangement as clearly as the technology they would use.
